Course Syllabus

Introduction to Design Technology requires Introduction to Engineering as a prerequisite.

In this class we will work on proper Technical Drawing building on the sketching you learned about in Intro to Engineeirng.  We will start reviewing the Orthographic and Isometric sketching you learned and then move on to mechanical drawing with pencil and paper.  Here you will learn proper drawing technique using the tools of drafting: T-squares and triangles, compasses and dividers, protractors and templates. We will work on geometric constructions, proper orthographic and isometric drawing, special views, perspective drawings and more.

About halfway through the semester we will move on to Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) using AutoCAD, an industry standard.  We will create both multiview drawings as well as 3-dimensional models.  You will learn how to create progressively more complex models.

Grading is partly based on participation, but you will also be graded on how well you succeed.  You will also be graded on your homework completion.

You can always bring your grade up by improving on your prior work.

If you want extra help, use should contact me to set up a time to meet.  My schedule is posted near the door to rooms 156 and 158.  If you cannot meet during one of my "free" blocks, I am usually here after school, but definitely see me before coming to guarantee I am there.  You can also email questions to me and I will try to respond as soon as I am able.
