Course Syllabus

Term 1 & 2: Directing the One Act. This project will require a great deal of responsibility and organization on the part of the Student.  I will work on skills in class, share resources on Canvas, however the students are required to work with their One-Acts and chronicle their process in their online or hard copy Director's Notebook. The Grade will be:

60% PROCESS - The art of working with the process is very important. I want the Director and the Actors to have learned through this experience.  I will be checking in periodically and sitting in on rehearsals to make sure that  everyone is staying on task and feeling good about the overall process.  I am available for help any time.  This process also involves students arranging  for Tech needs and keeping an open communication with their Technical assignments

40% PRODUCT-  The overall product will follow a rubric that the students will have ahead of time. This rubric is to ensure that every aspect of the project has been addressed. I want to see Actors that have been given clear direction, a clear vision, a grasp of the text and a comfortability on stage.

Term 3 & 4:  Senior Showcases - NEW THIS YEAR! Students will work on a culminating project that will showcase skills learned in their time with the WHS Acting Program.  Be it a Musical Theatre showcase, or a Dramaturgy Showcase...students will craft their own "show" and prepare for presentation.  More details on this to follow.
