Course Syllabus

Welcome to Academic Literacy! In this course, we will be developing the following skills:

• Word study (Analysis of roots, suffixes, and prefixes)

• Comprehension strategies

• Reading fluency

• Phonics 

• Writing development

• Building awareness of local and world issue

Grading: Grades are based on effort, participation and attendance. Periodically, we will administer an assessment to better understand you as a reader and writer. 

Academic and Social Behavior: Please arrive to class on time and ready to work (whether this is in person or on Zoom)

We will also adhere to the school’s core values as we work together this year: caring and cooperative relationships, academic excellence, respect for human differences, and commitment to community.
