Mathematics Syllabus: Foundations 9/10 RLS
Orange block meets:
Mondays 8:00-9:15 AM
Tuesdays 8:00-9:15 AM
Wednesdays 7:50-8:10 AM
Foundations 9/10 RLS (Remote Learning School) is geared toward learning and understanding a variety of mathematical skills geared toward analytical and logical thinking. In addition, this course will help to prepare you for the Math MCAS next year.
TOPICS: We are going to cover a range of topics including: operations of integers, decimals and fractions, order of operations, equations and inequalities, percents, decimal and fraction equivalents, the coordinate plane, graphing, perimeter, area and surface area of 2-dimensional shapes, volume of 3-dimensional shapes, intro to geometry using lines, angles and triangles, exponents and square roots.
CANVAS: We will be using Canvas to outline our course. There you will find the daily lessons, assignments for the week and the calendar of due dates.
RESOURCES: We will use many different resources to help us understand this content. Worksheets for practice, Delta Math and IXL. Delta Math and IXL are online learning tools that will give you instant feedback on your work. They will explain how to complete problems and help you if you make an error. These online platforms are going to help you determine if you are understanding the skills.

ASSESSMENTS and ASSIGNMENTS: Here is a typical weekly schedule:
Mondays- homework due Monday, 11:59 PM
Tuesdays- homework due Tuesday, 11:59 PM and weekly quiz
Wednesdays- class meeting to review/ask questions, homework due Sun, 11:59 PM
Thursdays- no assignments given
Fridays- no assignments given
Assessments are given at the end of a unit, not on Wednesdays, with at least a 1 week notice.
Homework will be assigned 3x/week, due the following day and be submitted through Canvas. I am interested in seeing your work and how you solve problems. The process is just as important as the right answer, maybe more :)
Delta Math and IXL - assignments
Delta Math and IXL are sites that we will use for practice and assignments.
Quizzes are given every Tuesday- no surprises. These will submitted through Canvas.
These assessments are designed to cover more content than a quiz. They will contain both multiple choice and open response questions. The timing of these will depend on the pacing of each unit and I will give you at least 1 week notice of our assessment date.
Attendance is an important component of your learning. I expect that you will be on time to class each day that it is in your schedule. If you cannot make a class, please send me an email to let me know and we will make up that time.
Mondays 7:30-8:00 AM
Tuesdays 7:30-8:00 AM and 3:30-5:00 PM
Wednesdays 7:30-7:50 AM
Thursdays 3:30-5:00 PM
I am really looking forward to a wonderful year with you!
