Sports Education is your traditional games-based physical education course and is grounded in a high-level of aerobic, cardiovascular movement. The focus is on team or partner sports and will include instruction in a minimum of four of these activities: ultimate frisbee, flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, speedball, street hockey, badminton, tennis or whiffle ball.
All activities and lessons will be driven by these three national physical education standards:
Standard 3, Standard 4 and Standard 5.
The National Physical Education Standards
Standard 3- The physically literate individual
demonstrates the knowledge and skills to
achieve and maintain a health-enhancing
level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4- The physically literate individual
exhibits responsible personal and social
behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5- The physically literate individual
recognizes the value of physical activity for
health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression
and/or social interaction.
