Course Syllabus

Welcome to Academic Literacy! Mrs.McCormick and Mrs. Lynch are the two Academic Literacy Teachers and depending on how a student's schedule works, one or the other will be their primary teacher for this course.

In this course, we will be developing the following skills:

• Word study (Analysis of roots, suffixes, and prefixes)

• Comprehension strategies

• Reading fluency

• Phonics 

• Writing development

• Building awareness of local and world issue

Grading: Grades are based on effort, participation and attendance. Occasionally, we will administer an assessment to better understand you as a reader and writer. 

Academic and Social Behavior: Please arrive to class on time and ready to work.
