Physical Education Quarter Elective Course
Syllabus
Sports Education is a traditional games-based physical education course and is grounded in a high-level of aerobic, cardiovascular movement. The focus is on team or partner sports and will include instruction in a minimum of four of these activities: ultimate frisbee, flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, speedball, street hockey, badminton, tennis or whiffle ball.
Students should dress to be active and bring their laptop to class. Your canvas classroom will be used frequently for formal and informal assessments.
All activities and lessons will be driven by these three national physical education standards:
Standard 3, Standard 4 and Standard 5.
The National Physical Education Standards
Standard 3- The physically literate individual
demonstrates the knowledge and skills to
achieve and maintain a health-enhancing
level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4- The physically literate individual
exhibits responsible personal and social
behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5- The physically literate individual
recognizes the value of physical activity for
health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression
and/or social interaction.
