Important Rules
Cell Phones:  Cell phones should be turned off and parked in the classroom caddie.  If I see your phone, I will take it to your House Office where you can pick it up at the end of the school day.
Absent/Tardy:  Check your handbook for complete school policy, but you should know:
You may not make up work for days with an unexcused absence.
5 unexcused tardies = 1 skip.

Class Participation
Come to class each day on time, prepared to learn, respect both your peers and myself, and be engaged in the day’s activities.  Participation is expected.  You should try to contribute to class each day.

Homework
Homework will be assigned infrequently.
If you do not finish work in class, you are expected to finish at home when you can.
If you are absent the day an assignment is due, you are expected to turn in the assignment the next class.

Quizzes
Quizzes will be given regularly, unannounced, based on the material presented.

Turning in work
When you have work to turn in, there will be instructions on how to turn it in.  Please be sure to turn it in as asked.

Shared Google folder: Some work will be required to be turned in to a shared google folder. Create a google folder with the NAME given by your teacher.  Share that folder with your teacher.

Canvas:  Some work may be assigned to be turned into Canvas.  That will be specified in the assignment.

Documents: you may turn in documents in the following formats – Word, Open Office or Google Docs.
You may NOT pass in work in Apple Pages.
Photos/pictures/videos MUST be inserted into documents so comments can be added.

Quarter Grading Policy
Class Participation -- 40%
Assignments/Projects/Activities – 60%

Assignments will be graded on a point basis.  Points will be given for completion, effort, accuracy and participation.  Rubrics will be shared in Canvas.

Projects/assignments will be graded on an increasing point scale. That is, later work will be given more weight as students learn more and improve their work.

Late Work
Late assignments will be accepted with reduced credit. Nothing may be turned in after the unit is complete.

Accomodations:
“District accommodations (DCAP) are available to all students, and in the 26-27 school year, WHS is committed to moving this forward with fidelity.  While some accommodations can be offered at the moment, others require advanced notice. For example: Extended time on an in-class assessment is a collaborative decision made by the teacher, student, and family to meet individual student needs.  The WHS guideline is up to 25% extra time.  This accommodation relies on proactive student communication prior to the date of the assessment.  The student and teacher must establish how the accommodation will be provided.”
