Course Syllabus
Welcome to YOGA!
This course is meant for students to experience a positive workout that strengthens the muscles, increases flexibility, and supports stress management!
Simple expectations of the course are:
- Good Attendance
- Showing up on time
- Showing up prepared (i.e. in attire that you can move comfortably in/stretch in/sit on the floor in).
- Effort and Participation
- General respect to everyone in the class
Syllabus:
This class is for all levels of yoga experience, and will be designed to advance each student individually. We will build a positive learning community, experience various yoga flow sequences, define and refine 80-90 yoga poses, and as a final culmination of learning, you will design your own 35-minute flow and teach it to the class!
We will focus on the following Standards of Learning:
Standard 1: The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.
Standard 2: The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance.
Standard 3: The physically literate individual demonstrations the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Standard 4: The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personals and social behavior that respects self and others.
Standard 5: The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
Grading:
Grading will be based upon attendance, effort and participation, enthusiasm, and respect.
