What We Do In Academic Strategies

• Use the current curriculum in academic classes as the basis for teaching skills to meet IEP goals.

Academic Support

• Preview concepts
• Clarify directions
• Review for assessments
• Foster academic independence

Executive Functioning

• Recording assignments
• Organizing notebooks/binders
• Plan for long term assignments

Self-Advocacy

• Understanding personal learning style
• Processing stressful situations
• Building academic confidence
• Participating in class
• Asking for help
• Identifying support structures
• Parents, teachers, specialists, counselors, TAs

We Are NOT A Study Hall

• We do not monitor daily homework assignments.
• We will know upcoming assessments and assignments.

Class Looks Like
